Pocket Tanks is a free mobile artillery game in which you use a range of different weapons to blast enemy vehicles. It's an update of the classic computer game Scorched Tanks. Like its predecessor, it features a huge range of different weapons to choose from, each with its own special characteristics.
If you've played other artillery games, such as any of Team 17's Worms series, you'll be familiar with the basic gameplay of Pocket Tanks. You select your weapon, choose the angle of fire and decide how much power you want to put behind your shot. Finally, you shoot, hoping that your shot connects. Once you're done, your opponent takes a turn. You can move, but you have a limited pool of movement points to spend, so you'll want to do it only when necessary. You can also change the landscape with your shots -- an explosion could bury your enemy in dirt or throw up a temporary barrier between you. Each hit on your opponent scores points, after ten exchanges, the player with the most points wins. In-app purchases allow you to (dramatically) expand the choice of weapons, from a few dozen to over 100.
If you like cannon games, you'll love Pocket Tanks, a simple, smooth implementation of a classic game design. The additional weapon packs add a lot of fun to the game, but they're not absolutely necessary.
