PingBar is a simple application that comes as an alternative to using Mac's Network Utility to ping your server. This program sits on your Menu Bar where it displays the delay for sending messages from the originating host to a destination computer and back.
Mac OS X comes with a default application for pinging network addresses. However, it might take a while to search the program, launch it, and enter the host information. PingBar stays hidden on your status bar and displays the current delay value for sending messages, without slowing down the performance of your Mac.
You can enter the network address in the following formats: 10.0.3.1 or www.sample.com. After you select the proper delay and precision values, you simply hit the Enter key and the program will display the necessary information on your Menu Bar.
In my testing, the application worked perfectly as it displayed accurate details, without using many CPU resources while running on my status bar. Except for that, nothing special can be said about this utility. It does exactly what's being said on its homepage.
Hence, I think it's worth installing this free program on your Mac if you ever wish to ping network addresses on your computer.
