In this respect, it is excellent news that it can even detect defective devices that do not appear in Finder.
The application has a simple to use interface. Thus, with a few simple steps you can scan the intended drive, preview the desired files and recover them. Unfortunately, it seems that the tool has some problems to recover some types of video files, which are impossible to preview.
All in all, Photo Recovery Guru is one of the possible solutions if you have lost any precious media files due to device malfunction or accidental deletion. However, the tool is quite restricted in terms of supported file types, which means that you cannot use it to recover, let us say, an important document. In fact, it is just a crippled version of another product by the same developer. The tool can be tried at no cost to the previewing step, but it does not actually recover anything.
