PDF-XChange Lite can help you create PDF documents from virtually any program that supports printing. Thus, it is a sort of universal X-to-PDF converter. As many other tools of its type, it works by installing a virtual printer. Therefore, the tool is not more difficult to use than a real printer; you just need to go to the Print command and pick PDF-XChange Lite as a printer.
Although the steps above work can be used to create your PDF based on the default parameters, it is also possible to customize output via the printer properties dialog box. This way, you can set driver (GDI or XPS), page size, margins, resolution, and layout type. Likewise, save options can be configured to name output files automatically based on specific patterns. Luckily, these settings can be saved for repeated use.
All in all, PDF-XChange Lite is ideal for PDF creation as it produces excellent results. Unfortunately, unlike other similar tools, it does not allow securing your PDFs. The product is free for non-commercial use, but it belongs to a family of other paid programs with more advanced features: PDF-XChange Standard and PDF-XChange Pro.
