Third, the tool allows extracting plain text from a PDF document. Finally, it supports creating webpages (HTML) out of the original PDFs.

PDF to X has the main advantage of processing files in batches, which saves a lot of time and effort. In addition, it lets you convert the whole original document or make a selection of the desired pages. It is also good that it can import password-protected PDFs. Another benefit you can get from this program is that it supports command-line parameters, which means it can be used from other applications. Last but not least, it makes an accurate conversion that does not alter the original page layout.

From drawbacks: the program is not free, it cannot perform OCR text extraction from a scanned document. Similarly, it does not allow setting complex output page ranges, such as 1-3,5,7-9. Finally, you cannot convert the same source document to various target formats in a single operation.

All in all, PDF to X is an unsophisticated PDF converter. Despite its various limitations, the tool definitely can come in handy for converting bulks of PDFs to other popular formats. The product is shareware and its regular price is too high, but it is occasionally sold much cheaper. Luckily, it may be tried at no cost but leaves a watermark on every page.
