PC Pitstop Exterminate is a program that will scan for malware, viruses and spyware in your system.
The program will download up-to-date malware and virus definitions using your Internet connection. This way it will make sure that you have the latest available protection. The first time you update the definitions, the process may take some time. Once the program’s database has been updated, you can go on scanning your system. Extermination will check processes, files and the registry. Then, it will display a report with the problems found, if any. It will give you separate reports for high- and medium-level threats (as trojans, adware or spyware) and for minor threats (mostly tracking cookies).
During the installation process, you will be prompted to install an ActiveX control that is needed for the program to run. You must allow this installation; otherwise, Exterminate will not be installed at all.
The trial version of Exterminate will just scan your system for malware, but it will not fix anything. To do so, you will need to acquire the program.
