Package Tracker is a plug-in for the Search feature in Google Desktop, which will allow you to track the route of any package with a tracking number. Google Desktop is a free pack of utilities with several useful features, to which you can add numerous plug-ins. Package Tracker will add itself as a tiny white box on top of your Google Desktop Sidebar, and you will be able to enter your UPS, USPS, FedEx, TNT, or DHL tracking numbers on it, assigning a name for each of them, if you want.
The program will recognize which carrier uses the code you entered, and it will tell you where your parcel is. You can even see a map (based on Google Maps, though at the author’s website), showing you the exact location of your packet and the route it is following. The program will also be able to link you to the carrier’s website, so you can obtain further details about your package location.
This plug-in works flawlessly in Windows Seven. It needs Google Desktop 4 (or better) installed. Finally, if you plan to run it on older Windows platforms, be sure you have .NET 2.0 installed.
