OpenMeta is an OS X Cocoa Objective-C technology that enables applications to read and write tags, ratings, and other user-defined metadata to any file. Compatible with 10.5 and 10.6, OpenMeta facilitates the sharing of metadata between commercial, open source, and in-house programs. Metadata is stored in extended attributes (xattr), and can be indexed by Spotlight for searchability.
