Net Monitor is an application that analyzes the network activity of your computer. It logs traffic-related issues, generates history reports, and calculates traffic between dates.
Once you launch the program, a small interface appears on your desktop, providing general information about your network connection, along with traffic statistics on sent and received data. The Preferences menu lets you enable custom settings that will help you determine the input network to monitor, manage the app with ease, generate comprehensive reports on traffic-related issues, and receive alarm notifications when a network malfunction occurs. In addition, the utility offers to enable PPP controlling and monitoring, which is an alternate device connection that doesn't require the standard and most often used Internet connectivity. The PPP connection can be managed from Dock or the menu bar, according to the settings you make in Preferences.
In short, Net Monitor is a simple application that offers to control network activities and generate reports on data transfers. The tool doesn't work as a traffic data optimizer – it just monitors network connections and alerts you when tasks are not running as they should.
