MyTube is a small and very simple application that allows browsing YouTube and watching YouTube videos. It’s in fact a Pokki widget that can be used only if you agree to install the entire Pokki framework on your system. MyTube doesn’t bring any special, additional features. In fact, it doesn’t bring any additional features at all. It only allows viewing the most popular content on Youtube and browsing the videos by categories.
During my testing of this app, instead of showing up a list of related videos for the provided keyword, the search function triggered the automatic playing of a related video. That’s quite inconvenient and hard to ignore, in my opinion. Other than that, there weren’t other obvious or remarkable flaws, but also no advantages or useful additional features either. Basically, when using this tool instead of the web browser to watch Youtube videos, you have access to even fewer features and functions, as logging in to an YouTube account is also not supported by MyTube. Therefore, rating videos or saving them to playlists is also not possible. The only reason why I imagine a person would prefer using this application is having Pokki already installed and really wanting to avoid using a web browser for watching the YouTube videos. MyTube’s only advantages are being free, very small and lightweight. Other than that, it’s quite disappointing.
