My Living Desktop is an app that installs video wallpapers on your Mac. It ships with 26 different wallpapers that promise to show high-definition videos and soothing images and sounds to help you relax. You can of course add videos off your own and they will be displayed as well.
My Living Desktop has an internal wallpaper rating system. You can rate each wallpaper from 1 to 5. Those with the better ratings will be displayed more often than the ones with lower ratings. You can also prevent certain wallpapers from ever showing up.
The wallpapers have sounds that complete the experience. One of the great features of this app is that it can detect when you are playing audio on your computer and automatically mute itself. You can also add a list of applications for which you want My Living Desktop to mute itself. After you are done with those, the app will automatically resume sound playback.
There are some other nice features. The website does a great job of elaborating on what they do.
All in all, I found this app very interesting and well-made. I don't really see my wallpaper at all when I am on my Mac, so I have no need for an app like this. But I encourage you to give it a try, especially if you spend a lot of time staring at your wallpaper or desktop.
