Music Rescue is an iPod recovery and backup tool for the Mac. This application targets those users who have lost the music on their iTunes and still have a copy of those songs on their iPods. Unfortunately, copying the music back from the iPod to your computer isn't as easy as it should be, so you have to use an app like Music Rescue. It allows you to copy the music back to your computer, and load it again to iTunes. The recovered songs are saved in MP3, so you can do whatever you want with those files. There won't be any copy protection, either.
As far as device support goes, Music Rescue claims it supports all current iPods, including the iPhone. I tested it with an iPod 5G and it detected it instantly and listed all the songs on it. They were all checked, so starting a backup operation was as easy as clicking on "Begin copy".
Music Rescue comes with a media player that allows you to play your songs before you copy them to your hard drive. If you leave it playing, it will play song after song until you stop it, which is a good alternative to a music player if all you want is to play a few songs.
All in all, Music Rescue works well and it isn't very expensive. I liked the interface and I experienced no problems at all with it.
