MPIDE, Multi-Platform IDE, is a development environment that was forked from the Arduino programming environment, and it was modified and extended to support the PIC32-based chipKIT boards as well as traditional Arduino boards. The Arduino standard libraries have been modified to support chipKIT boards and traditional Arduino boards.
