MouseRobot is an automation programmer for Windows. You can load the application with actions and it will perform them for you. This is what is called Macro recording.
MouseRobot graphical user interface is made up of two key elements. On the left part of the screen there is a list of all your actions. And to the right there are the keyboard and the mouse recording options.
To create an event you are supposed to add a new action by clicking on the blue plus sign. When you do that, an action is added to the list on the left with 0 in it, meaning that this will be the first action to be performed. If you want to record an action, you simply click and hold the "ctrl" key on your keyboard and do whatever you want to do. In my case, I tried to make the application rotate pictures using Windows Picture and Fax Viewer. At first, I was unsuccessful, but after a few minutes of trial and error, I managed to get it to work.
MouseRobot is aware of its surroundings. It doesn't just record where on the screen you click and for how long. It actually detects running applications. So, if the application that you've recorded an action with is not running, it will not perform the action at all. This becomes particularly useful when you are dealing with dynamic applications or screens. MouseRobot will adapt to changing circumstances and find the right place to click.
Personally, I didn't find the interface intuitive. I reckon that this type of application isn't the easiest one to use. However, as the developers of MouseRobot state, after 10 or 20 minutes, anyone can work with recorded actions.
