Monotony is a simple yet efficient RSS utility designed for Mac. This application lets you know when new content has been added to the websites of your interest. You can use this program to keep track of the latest press releases from news websites, without having to visit the webpages from your default browser.
After you install the app on your Mac and launch it, a new icon will be placed in your Menu Bar. You can reveal the main window of the program by clicking the icon from the status bar.
The application lets import feed URLs from OPML or XML files. You can also click the + button and paste the URL of the feed you wish to subscribe to. The program will display notifications under your Menu Bar whenever new content is available.
Each notification features a title and a summary. You need to click the notification window if you wish to read the news article.
In my testing, the utility worked perfectly. It used a very small amount of CPU resources and was very simple to configure.
With that being said, I think it's worth installing this free program on your Mac if you're looking for an effective and intuitive RSS tool.
