Mini Writer is a simple, yet efficient word processor. You can use it to create text-based files, which you can save as popular document formats. The program allows you to enrich your project with pictures and tables, in order to make it more colorful and attractive.
The application provides an easy-to-use and intuitive interface. The toolbar can be customized according to your text-processing needs. For an uncluttered appearance, you can hide the buttons that correspond to less often-used functions. In addition, the utility comes with shortcut keys presets meant to speed up the writing process. Unfortunately, you can't choose custom key combinations – you just need to learn and respect the shortcuts already configured.
Like any other word processor, Mini Writer lets you set the paper size and orientation, choose the style, color and size of fonts, determine the space between lines and the text alignment, increase or decrease the indent, insert bullets and date stamps, etc. You can insert tables into your project, which are highly customizable in terms of rows, columns, alignment, borders, and cell background. Inserting pictures is also supported – the image will be imported in its original size, but you can re-scale it with ease by means of a sliding bar that appears on the screen when clicking the picture.
Once you finish working on your project, the document will be saved as an RTF, DOC/DOCX, TXT, ODT, HTML, or PDF file. The "Preferences" menu enables you to choose a favorite format for automatic saving – still, you can convert the document into other supported formats just as easily using the "Export" function. The project may be saved with additional information regarding the copyright, author, title, keywords, and comments of each particular file.
The application is a lightweight and cost-free alternative to expensive and complicated word processors. The tool includes all basic text-related features, which make it perfect for daily home usage.
