The Microsoft Application Compatibility Toolkit (ACT) enables IT professionals and software developers that work in a corporate environment to determine whether their applications are compatible with a new version of the Microsoft Windows operating system. ACT also enables such individuals to determine how an update to the new version will impact their applications.
The Microsoft Application Compatibility Toolkit (ACT) for Windows XP, including Service Pack 2, and Windows Server 2003 contains the tools and documentation you need to evaluate and mitigate application compatibility issues before deploying on these platforms. Tools include the latest versions of the Microsoft Application Analyzer that simplifies application inventory and compatibility reporting, the Internet Explorer Compatibility Evaluator that assists testers in locating compatibility issues with Internet Explorer on Windows XP Service Pack 2, and the Compatibility Administrator that provides access to the necessary compatibility fixes to support legacy applications in Windows. ACT diagnosticates the problems which could occur owing to Windows Vista installation. If during diagnostics it’s found out the problems for some applications, ACT makes it possible to download special updates to provide compatibility and use it at once or by turns.
