Process multiple files in the application supporting the modification of metadata extracted from selected audio files. Batch modification or assignment of previously absent tags and names is possible. The program is compatible with such formats as MP3, M4A, AIFF, WAV, FLAC, APE, OGG, WMA, etc.
Metadatics lets you tag your music collection so you can easily identify and find the desired songs. The tool can read and write ID3v1, ID3v2, MP4, Vorbis, APE, and ASF tags. Likewise, it supports a long list of audio file types that includes, but is not limited to MP3, M4A, AIFF, WAV, FLAC, APE, OGG and WMA. Although using this tool is quite simple, having its help documentation at hand is always welcomed.
The application has a rather straightforward with no hidden features. You can import songs by dragging and dropping them on its window or by browsing for them in Finder. The tool has several advantages. In this respect, it is good that it can edit common tags in batches of files. However, it is logical that some tags, like title and lyrics, must be edited individually. In addition, there are ways to modify tag texts by removing or replacing a certain string as well as converting case and generating numbers in sequences. What is more, some processes, like renaming files and generating directory structures, can be automated on the basis of the embedded metadata.
Fortunately, Metadatics saves you a lot of effort by downloading metadata from MusicBrainz, an online database. Similarly, it can also find and download artwork in Amazon. Still, you cannot use search filters, such as picture size.
All in all, Metadatics feels better than iTunes for tagging music files. It works with songs obtained from different sources, such as those downloaded from the Internet, ripped from discs or copied from any other storage location. Yet, it may unfortunately happen that iTunes loses track of the locations of the files modified by Metadatics. Finally, you will probably be glad to hear that the product is shareware and has a reasonable price.
