mediAvatar DPG Converter is a video conversion utility that can be used to convert your video files into DPG, DPG2, DPG3, or DPG4. These are formats that were developed for video playback on the Nintendo DS. They use the MPEG-1 codec for video and a few different codecs for audio, depending on the version of the DPG format. You need to have Moonshell installed on your DS to be able to watch video on it.
The application looks and feels like any other video converter by mediAvatar. It has excellent input format support and only six conversion profiles that you can choose from the format selection drop-down menu. You can convert your videos to MP2 and MP3 in addition to converting them to the different DPG formats available. There is a video player on the right side of the screen that you can use to view your videos before converting them and to take JPG snapshots. There are no video edition tools available. The app does include a bandwidth calculator, though, which is not a very common feature, but a nice one.
I tested the app by converting an MKV file to DPG. The process was rather quick, taking only 15 or so seconds to convert a 1-minute long file. I was unable to test the DPG file because I didn't have any video players that support the format. It is a good thing that this trial lets you fully test the app before you have to purchase it.
