Master of Gomoku is a very entertaining board game for the Mac. I had never played Gomoku before trying this app, and I have to say that I like the game. The objective is very simple; you need to place five of your stones in a row. It doesn't matter if it is diagonally, horizontally or vertically. You also need to prevent your opponent from achieving this. It is not as easy as it sounds. There are many different strategies that you can undertake to win this game. You can either play defensively or offensively. I chose to play defensively and won my first few games against the easiest AI opponent. There are four difficulty levels. You can also customize the board size. The default one is 8 by 8, and the biggest one is 15 by 15. Advanced users will probably want a big board to play on.
Master of Gomoku features sounds and music. The music is nice and it gives the game a bit of suspense. It is a bit repetitive after a while, but you can disable both music and sounds from the options menu.
In conclusion, Master of Gomoku is a nice app that lets you play this interesting board game on your Mac. At only $0.99 it is really inexpensive and it can be challenging.
