MailUnreadStatusBar is an application which shows in the menu bar the number of the unread mails. After connecting to Mail.app, a notification window is shown, displaying the unread mails. The program makes possible to check the unread mails on the mail server by choosing the following accounts: POP3, IMAP4 & No SSL.
Mia for Gmail (was Notifier Pro for Gmail) is a desktop Gmail client which sits politely in your menu bar.
