Mafia 2 is a third person action game for Mac users who want to try their hand at being a virtual mobster.

Similar to Mafia 1930 but far more detailed, Mafia 2 is set between 1940 and 1950 and is based in Empire Bay, which, though fictional, is based on a hybrid of New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston and Detroit. Like other roleplay-based games, you've got to maneuver your character around the city to complete certain tasks. The can include stealing cars, collecting firearms and interacting with other computer-controlled characters.

There's a lot of variety in Mafia 2, especially in terms of the sheer amount of choice you have when choosing weapons. You've got your Thompson submachine gun and Colt 1911, but then there's also a Remington 870 pump-action shotgun, an MP 40, M3 submachine gun and more. Firearms enthusiasts will certainly get a kick out of all of these weapons and their portrayal in Mafia 2.

In addition, you can choose between performing standard actions and violent ones throughout Mafia 2. You can also hide behind certain objects, run for cover and shoot simultaneously at enemies, which most users will see as a pretty cool feature. There are even three different radio stations you can tune into while playing the game: Empire Central Radio, Empire Classic Radio and Delta Radio.

In terms of graphics, Mafia 2 is top-notch. Life-like and crisp, Mafia 2 won't leave experienced gamers disappointed. The only complaint some might have is that the game might freeze up or lag occasionally on older Macs.

Mafia 2 is a must-try for serious gamers who want World War II era thrills.
