MacX Free AVI Video Converter is a free video converter that can help you convert your video files into AVI files. The application can open pretty much any modern video format, including AVI, MPEG-4, H.264, MKV, FLV, MOV, etc. Output format support is not limited to AVI; the app can also output files in WMV, MOV, MPEG and MP3.
The graphical user interface is identical to that of WinX's converters, which are owned by the same company. It consists of a toolbar at the top, and below that, some instructions on how to use the application. At the bottom of the screen, you will find five different tabs, and under each one, the conversion settings for the format selected. The tabs are AVI, WMV, MOV, MPEG and Music. Some of the conversion settings that you can change are video and audio quality, audio sample rate, and video frame rate, volume, aspect ratio and resolution.
In my testing, I used a sample MKV file, which was encoded using H.264 and had a resolution of 720p. I converted the file to both AVI (DivX) and MOV (MPEG-4) with no problems at all. The resulting file looked good, for a converted file.
