Haunted house horror game

Late Night Mop is a free adventure title from indie developers LaxianGames. It is a first-person horror game set inside a haunted house. In it, players take on the role of a house cleaner who receives a request for a quick clean-up job in the middle of the night.

Similar to Dark Deception or Among the Sleep, Late Night Mop makes clever use of lighting effects in order to create a dark and eerie atmosphere for players to experience. It was also created using Unreal Engine making for some good graphical fidelity in its design.

Late night clean up

In Late Night Mop, you are a professional cleaner who offers cleaning services to customers. One time, one of your clients sent in a request for a quick clean-up of their house as they needed the place to be ready by morning. You make your way to their residence in the middle of the night, but as soon as you enter, everything feels off for some reason.

Nevertheless, you proceed with your job as there are multiple areas to cover, from the living room to the kitchen, master bedroom, and more. You'll be mopping the floors, taking out the trash, and plenty of wipe-downs. However, you have this feeling that you are not entirely alone in the house and that fear is realized when dark shadowy figures suddenly appear in front of you.

Just like that, a simple cleaning job suddenly took a turn for the worse. Now you have to clean all the mess left behind before morning, complete the job, and leave with your life. With that being said, the gameplay is short. Depending on how you play, you can finish in a few minutes, even given the multiple tries you'll most likely have to make.

Make it spotless or else

All in all, Late Night Mop is an interesting horror game that will provide you with a good scare for a few minutes. The mysterious circumstances of the job coupled with the dark and creepy atmosphere of the house make for a frightful experience. If you're a fan of the genre and are looking for something to play, this a good one to try out despite its short runtime. Recommended.
