Despite the widespread use of cloud storage services, hard drives are still the main storage hardware used today. Thus, it is important to keep an eye on our hard drive to prevent malfunctions and data loss.
Kingston, the famous storage devices manufacturer, offers this free program to manage and supervise your hard drive status. For example, you can check the device's temperature, its serial number, and the firmware's version. If the firmware is outdated, then the program will show you a link to download the most recent version.
The program also shows if your drive has any errors, and if some of them are impossible to correct. It also shows a detailed record of the events occurred in your drive since you first ran the program.
An advantage is that the program shows a summary of the most important information in the form of colored graphics at the bottom of the interface. These are permanently visible, so you can open any of the program's tabs and still have this information at sight.
The only disadvantage I found is that the program is to be used exclusively with Kingston solid-state hard drives, so if you still have any older drive, or if your hardware was not manufactured by Kingston, then you won't be able to use it.
