Keyboard & Aliens is a program for Mac designed to help you improve your keyboard typing skills. Developed to look and feel like a game, this application provides you with three difficulty levels, nicely-drawn graphics, and a simple yet appealing storyline.
The app comes with a comprehensive help manual from where you can learn how to handle Keyboard & Aliens and play the game. After you check its guide, you can select the Practice mode to warm up and get an idea about the gameplay.
Your goal is to type the indicated characters before the alien ships abduct your cows. If the timer reaches zero before you get to type in the specified symbol, the cow is kidnapped. You win the game as soon as you reach 250000 points.
The one aspect I don't like about Keyboard & Aliens is that it doesn't provide level settings. For a beginner, it's a lot easier to improve your typing skills if you start off with simple to type characters, preferably from the same category (only letters or numbers).
As a conclusion, you need to have a little experience in typing with your keyboard in order to complete levels (even the Beginner ones). Nevertheless, if you're used to typing on your keyboard, this application might help you improve your typing skills. Still, the app is free so I can't find any reason why you shouldn't try it on your Mac.
