KeepIt is a program that will let you make backups "in the cloud". This means that your backup files will be stored on an external server, using your Internet connection. So you will not use space on your hard disk, while you are able to access your files from anywhere, even if your computer has been stolen, or becomes unusable. This service has three hosting facilities around the world, and your data will be replicated at least in two of them, so your data is safe, beyond any doubt.
The only drawback is that the backup (and restore) process will take more time than when working with local drives, and will depend on the speed of your Internet connection.
When using Keepit, you can tell the program which folders and files you want to back up, how often and in which mode (incremental, differential, etc.). The program will save a copy of your files in Keepit´s servers.
In order to use this service, you will have to create an account. When using the program for the first time, you will be able to do that just by entering a valid email address and following the instructions. The free trial will let you perform backups for thirty days, absolutely free, and without entering any credit card information. After that, you should choose the plan that best fits your needs.
