Jettison comes as an alternative to using Finder for ejecting every external drive that's being connected to your computer before putting your Mac on Sleep mode. This utility lives on your Menu Bar from where you can configure its settings according to your needs.
You don't need much computer experience in order to work with this tool. Simply select the "Eject" option from its main menu and choose the preferred external drive from the given list.
A great thing is that, after you eject an external storage device, you have the option to mount the drive directly from Jettison's main menu. Normally, you would need to remove the device from your Mac and plug it again in order to have access to the drive's data.
Furthermore, you can define a global hotkey for immediately ejecting all connected external drives and enabling Mac's Sleep mode.
Even though you can find cheaper solutions, like using Finder's eject feature, I still think it's worth giving Jettison a try, especially if you work with external storage devices often. It's easy-to-use, works 100%, and is cheap.
