Intel Smart Connect Technology 

Intel Smart Connect Technology is a program designed to keep applications such as Outlook* and Windows* Live Mail up to date by periodically waking the computer from sleep/standby mode for a short period of time. The program also adjusts the update frequency depending on the battery level or system temperature. It allows the computer to sleep longer between updates to conserve battery power or keep the system cool.
