ImTOO iPad to Mac Transfer lets you transfer data to and from your iPad. The app supports all iPad models, and even iPods and iPhones. Basically, what it does is give you a way of putting content on your iPad and transferring it back to your Mac without needing to use iTunes. Despite how great iTunes is, it simply doesn't give you total control over your data.
After a short installation wizard, ImTOO iPad to Mac Transfer was able to detect my iPad and it showed in a nice outline the capacity of the device, how much space was used in audio, video, photos, books, and others (which includes apps and documents), and the available space. On the left, below your device's name, you will see the main data categories (music, movies, books, photos, camera roll, ringtones and purchased items). All my photos were stored under Camera Roll, and I don't think the Ringtone category even applies to an iPad; it is probably more suitable for an iPhone.
Transferring data from the device to my Mac was really easy. All that I had to do was check the items that I wanted to copy and click on the "Copy Files to computer" button. I copied a song and a video file to my iPad, too. And the whole process easy enough.
All in all, this app works very well and it supports iPads, iPods and iPhones. However, I don't think it is worth $40.
