iMacsoft Free DVD Ripper is an application that lets you convert your DVD movies into video files that you can play on your Mac, or on mobile multimedia players. It doesn't have the best graphical user interface or the best format support, but it gets the job done. It can convert your movies into video and audio files. Some of the supported formats are WMV, XviD, AAC, MPEG-4, RM, RA, M4A, and a few others. There are conversion profiles for some devices, but these are a bit outdated. For example, the app has profiles for the iPad 1, iPaq PDAs and a few of the old iPod video models.
When you load your movie, this program will list all the DVD titles that make it up. Usually, the longest title is the main movie title, and that is the one that you would want to rip. One interesting feature I found is that if you click on the plus sign next to a title, you will see a list of the chapters that make it up, and you can select individual chapters to convert those instead of the full title.
There is a video trimmer that lets you cut the title into a smaller video clip. However, it didn't work in my testing. It failed to play video, which made finding the start and end points hard, and even after I set those, the trimming didn't have effect when I converted the movie. The full title was ripped, even though I specified I wanted to rip a 2-minute clip.
