iMacsoft DVD Ripper is a commercial DVD ripper for the Mac. It can be used to convert DVD movies into files that can be played by lots of different devices. This app comes with tons of conversion profiles. There are profiles for iPods, iPhones, iPads, mobile phones, gaming consoles, etc. You don't necessarily have to use a conversion profile, though, you can simply choose a format. And there are lots to choose from.
The application comes with a video trimmer, which allows you to select only a part of a DVD title to convert. But that is the only video editing feature that there is.
The main window has a video player that allows you to play the DVD titles of your movie and you can use it to take snapshots.
In my testing, I was able to trim a DVD title into a 2-minute clip and I even selected some subtitles with my title. The resulting file looked great and subtitles were hard-coded.
Unfortunately, iMacsoft DVD Ripper uses an installation wizard. This is not a big deal, but I hate the extra steps that a wizard entails. Also, you have to type in your password, and I don't want to do that every single time I install an app. I own a Mac so I don't have to deal with installation wizards.
All in all, this is a very nice commercial DVD ripper. It has great format support and works well.
