iFunia Media Converter is a complete video conversion tool. It is basically a video converter and a DVD ripper combined into a single package. The application has excellent input video support, so you will be able to open the most popular video formats with it. DVD movies can be either loaded from the DVD disc or a folder on your Mac. This is a nice feature for Mac Mini users who don't have a DVD drive and need to use the Remote Disc feature in Mac OS X.
After you have loaded a video or DVD movie, you need to choose one of the conversion profiles for your file. There are 22 different video formats and 13 audio formats supported. There are also quite a few conversion profiles for specific devices such as iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, gaming consoles, smartphones, and other multimedia playback devices. The app is regularly updated to include profiles for the most popular devices. It already has profiles for iPad Mini and new iPad.
During my testing, the application performed very well. I converted MKV and AVI files into H.264. The only problem I encountered was with a few MKV files, for which the application wasn't able to convert the audio track accurately. This is a problem I found in other iFunia converters as well. In the editor, the central audio channel doesn't play at all. And after conversion, the central channel can only be heard from the right channel. The problem is only found in multi-channel audio tracks.
