IconMaster Lite, published by Gaia Consulting, is a shareware tool which helps us create icons. This program comes with basic options, and requires no prior experience. It supports all Windows versions and requires just a few KB of hard drive space.
After installing the program, the first thing you will notice is that IconMaster's tools panel resembles that of MS Paint. The best feature of this program, however, is that we can import existing icons for editing, which definitely helps in quick icon development. IconMaster supports different design modes, including 32x32 icons, 16x16 icons, 48x48 icons, as well as multi-image icons (16x16 and 32x32 in one file). These various modes allow us to create the exact icons we want to create, and thus make the whole process much easier. Along with the design mode, we can also choose between the 16-color base palette and the 256-color base palette.
The help and support options in the trial version are very limited; however, with the full version, we get online support for 1 full year (or more, depending on the chosen subscription period).
