HippoName 2.0 is the latest version of this free program that can be used to help parents in choosing the names for their babies.
HippoName’s database includes over 26.000 baby names divided by genre (male, female). Each name record shows the meaning of the name and its origin. It also includes a column to mark those names that you like the most. The names list can be sorted by name (alphabetically), by meaning or by origin. Above the name list there is a row of initials to automatically filter the name list. Other filters for the database include: show names that contain a user defined text, show names which meaning contains a user defined text, show names with a user´s selected origin, and show favorites only.
Maybe the most remarkable advantage of HippoName 2.0 – beside its huge database – is that it´s free. You can start using this program just by downloading its lightweight setup file and running it. Among the drawbacks we can point out the impossibility to obtain printed reports and the lack of translated versions to other languages.
