HDD Fan Control is a system utility that protects the hard drive of your Mac – namely, it is designed to monitor and control the rotation speed of hard drive's fans in order to reduce the noise released by HDD coolers, and thus protecting your Mac against drive overheating.
The tool installs in the menu bar of your Mac. You may enable the program to run automatically at system's startup to monitor the current temperature and the RPM of your drive at all times. By default, the S.M.A.R.T. monitoring feature manages the current temperature of your hard drive – yet, you can turn to iMac internal temperature sensor instead if you prefer.
