Goodnight Timer is a simple and handy application that enables you to shut your computer down after a certain period of time. The application is very useful if you like listening to music or audiobooks resting in bed before falling asleep. It also has the ability to gradually reduce the sound volume of your computer over a period of time before shutting down your PC. You can select the start volume, and choose between a linear and an exponential fade out, and this information is shown in a simple way for you to have a greater idea of your volume control options. Of course, your initial sound volume is restored with the next start.
The interface is not very attractive, but it is really simple and user-friendly. The program sits in your system tray and informs you about the countdown status and enables you to abort or extend the shutdown process whenever you want. It would be great if it included other features apart from this simple one. Besides, while I have been testing the program it has failed to shut down the PC for several times.
