Geographical Adventures is a free game released under a name your own price model. In this game, players control an airplane that is flying around the world delivering packages to specific locations. The game uses real geographical data to create the game world, meaning the terrain below is authentic to the real world.
The game has cartoonish artstyle and the controls are simple and arcade-like, unlike popular flight simulators such as Microsoft Flight Simulator X, or Airplane Flight Pilot Simulator.
While the game makes use of authentic geographies—such as height maps and terrain types—the game world itself is more cartoonish. The world is much smaller than the real thing, meaning the player can fly around the world much more quickly than they would be able to do in a real plane. Other than the size, however, all the countries and continents are where they should be.
The game features a day/night cycle that is authentic within the game world, meaning the player can fly in and out of nighttime depending on where the sun is. There are also city lights on the ground in parts of the world that are in darkness. The borders of countries are visible during both night and day.
Geographical Adventures is a project by popular coding YouTuber, Sebastian Lague. It doesn’t have a lot of game features to explore, with the only mechanic being to deliver packages to specific parts of the world. There is no compass or pointer to direct the player, so some knowledge of geography is necessary to make deliveries.
Start alone and confused in a dangerous place, and go on to carve out a piece of the world for yourself.
