Folder Tidy is a system utility that lets you organize any folder on your Mac. I have to admit that I am a messy user, and it seems like this application was built with me in mind. I don't ever manually organize my folders. My desktop is such a big mess of files that you can't see the wallpaper. Folder Tidy comes pre-loaded with a set of rules that it uses to move the files that you want to be organized into different folders in a new location. For example, during my test run of this app, I chose to clean up the desktop. And I set the location of the files to an external hard drive. When the process was done, Folder Tidy had moved all the photos and images to a folder name Pictures, all my videos to Movies, all my XLS and DOC files to Documents, and so on. The great thing about this app is that you can set your own rules. You are given an incredible amount of flexibility to do so. You can filter files by name, date of creation or modification, kind, and last date a file was opened.
After you are done setting the rules and you click on the "Tidy" button. The application will take over of your screen and show how the files are actually dragged from their original folder to the location you selected. This animation makes the process longer than it could be, but it is a nice touch.
