Fly Fu Pro 1.1

Fly Fu Pro is a sidescrolling fighting game that features bipedal insect combat. It has several play modes: story, survival, endless, and minigames. The martial artist fly you control can wield weapons and learn advanced skills with the collection and expenditure of money and mana in-game. The game does not offer any in-app purchases as of this review.

The story ("adventure") mode features five episodes with a total of about two hours of gameplay. The player seeks to rescue the protagonist's girlfriend from the clutches of a mystery kidnapper, battling hordes of insect and arachnid enemies, meeting amusing characters, and defeating imposing bosses along the way. There are also four minigames that emerge as part of story mode. These each correspond to a classical element, and may be played at will once unlocked to gain mana points for that element; mana points can in turn be used to upgrade the fly's passive and active combat skills.

Achievements appear in the game as "Challenges", and they add a degree of replayability to a game mechanic that can otherwise become tedious.

Sam's Protip: All mid-level special powers have about the same potency, and only one can be selected at a time. Keep that in mind when determining how to spend mana points.
