FaceTop is a program that allows you to check your Facebook account page directly from your desktop, without using your default browser. The application sits quietly on your screen, behind any running utilities, and lets you take a look at your news feed, send messages to your Facebook friends, and upload pictures on your wall.
After you log in to your personal Facebook account, you can start checking your news feed, share pictures and links, change your current status, and much more. I like the fact that the program provides you with multiple display options for setting the transparency level of its main window, changing the app's screen position, etc.
Another good aspect is that, even though it constantly updates your news feed, it uses a reasonable amount of CPU resources. Furthermore, you can configure the app to sit behind or above all running programs.
The only thing I don't like about FaceTop is that you can't move its main window around your desktop by using your mouse. You can only enter the app's coordinates within the Preferences menu (left, top, width, and height position on the screen).
Nevertheless, the aforementioned flaw isn't too relevant, at least not to me. FaceTop is very simple to handle, offers you a simple and quick alternative to check your news feed with your default browser, and offers you various display settings. Hence, I can't find any reason why you shouldn't try this app on your Mac.
