Even though its name says one thing, this application not only lets you extract the sound content from movies but it also allows you to convert between various audio formats. The program might prove to be of good use whenever you wish to listen to your favorite movie soundtracks on your iPhone or media device.
The first thing you need to do in order to use the app is to configure the output settings according to your needs. You can choose between three output formats (WAV, AU, and AIFF), opt for the proper bit rate and sample rate, and select for the channel type (Mono or Stereo). After that, you can load the input file and wait for the result.
When it comes to converting sound files between audio formats, the tool supports plenty of file extensions: AIF, AU, MP3, M4R, M4A, and many other.
In my testing, the program was able to process only two formats: MP4 and MOV. Popular formats such as AVI, FLV or MKV aren't supported. In addition, the app lets you export the results to only three output formats: WAV, AU, and AIFF. Furthermore, the tool doesn't allow you to change the output destination folder and to select separate sections of the input formats for processing.
Taking into consideration the aforementioned flaws, I'd say you can find more capable solutions for extracting soundtracks from movies.
