ExpanDrive allows you to set up an external drive on an Internet server. Using this application, you will be able to send your files to a remote server (via the File Transfer Protocol, FTP) and manage the files as if you were working with a local drive. ExpanDrive let you define a drive letter for your remote unit, as well as a name to identify it by. You must ensure that the server which will store your files accepts connections from the port 22 (you can change the port number, though). You will be asked for a user name and password that will grant you access to the remote server. Then, well, just connect to your drive. From that moment on, you can use the space on the remote server just as if it was one more of your local drives. You will be able to copy, delete, and rename files as if you were working with your own hard disk.
The main advantage of using ExpanDrive is that you will be able to access the data on your remote disk from any computer with an Internet connection, without having to carry removable media with you. The evaluation version of ExpanDrive remains functional for thirty days.
