eqMac is intended to improve the quality of your listening experience by equalizing different sound bands. The application is very light and does not interfere with the normal use of the system as it runs hidden in the menu bar, from where you can access its slim interface by clicking on its icon.
The application lets you choose the desired sound device and adjust various parameters, including volume and balance. Probably its most desirable characteristic is that it allows you to switch equalizers. In this respect, it is good that it supports equalizing not only 10 bands but 32 bands as well, and, needless to say, a 32-band equalizer is more than enough for almost everybody. This means that you can have an accurate control of each frequency and customize the sound output to meet different conditions.
Luckily, you do not need to adjust the equalizer repeatedly as this application allows creating your own customized presets and save them under different names. It can also be set to start along with the system, and, in such case, it loads the most recently used preset. However, I regret it does not come with more built-in presets. Likewise, it does not allow importing and exporting presets, which is essential to share them with other people or use them on other devices.
In general, I am very pleased with the sound quality provided by eqMac. Therefore, it is an application I strongly recommend to try. Fortunately, it is opensource, so there is no cost involved. In this respect, the developers kindly ask to donate some money to support their project.
