Encore is one of the most well-known music notation programs, which offers composers a flexible environment to render their ideas with ease and precision. With a modern interface, still friendly and intuitive, Encore offers a comprehensive set of tools for composing, arranging, editing, and printing music. Music notation can be done either by transcribing MIDI files, or composing directly in the program; in both cases Encore ensures accurate and neat scores ready to print out. For the latter option, the program integrates numerous musical symbols and marks that can be inserted with the mouse from a floating tool bar, with the keyboard, or using a MIDI-enabled instrument.
It is possible to customize the toolbars at will, to have at hand the features that you use frequently. On the other hand, the score design is flexible and can be easily customized. There are more than 30 templates, but you can create your own without limitations.
The full version of the program offers numerous options to print your scores, among them the ability to customize the page layout, inserting headers and footers on all the pages, using your favorite fonts. Besides, you can print complete scores or separate pages or even fragments. Unfortunately, this feature is not available in the demo version.
According to some musicians, Encore is an ideal program for those who are starting to use the computer to compose, as it is very easy to use, and its functions are quite basic compared to what Sibelius or other programs of the kind offer.
