Emicsoft Mac DVD to iPad Converter is a commercial DVD ripper. It can be used to convert your DVD movies into video files that you can play on your iPad. The application can convert your movies to H.264, MPEG-4, MOV and M4V. Those formats can also be played by iPhone, iPod Touch, iTunes, and a variety of other video playback devices and applications.
This DVD ripper comes with a video editing tool that allows you to trim and crop your DVD titles. It can also be used to adjust the brightness, contrast and saturation of your movies. Text and picture watermarks are also supported.
The graphical user interface is very simple, but functional. Once you load your DVD movie, all DVD titles that make it up will be listed. You can check the ones you want to convert. At the bottom of the screen there are the conversion settings. From a drop-down menu you can choose the format or conversion profile that you want to use. And you can change individual conversion settings as well.
In my testing, I trimmed the main movie title to a 2-minute clip and selected English subtitles. I converted the title to an H.264 file for iPad 2. The conversion was done in less than 30 seconds and the resulting file looked good and it had working subtitles.
