Emicsoft iPhone Ringtone Maker for Mac is a utility that lets you use video and audio files to make ringtone files. Then you can use those files on your iPhone or any other device that supports the M4R format. If you are an iPhone owner, the application has the ability to extract the ringtone directly to your phone, without having to do it yourself with iTunes. This is an optional feature, though. If you want, you can simply generate an M4R file and not export it to iTunes.
After loading a file, you can select the part of the file that you want to use to create a ringtone. This can be done with the help of a series of playback control buttons, a time bar, or manually, through typing the desired start and end time.
The application supports various input formats. I was able to open AVI, MP4 and MP3 files. However, I was unable to play any sound with the application. Whenever I clicked on the play button, the application would crash. The same happened for the three formats that I tried.
Emicsoft iPhone Ringtone Maker for Mac didn't work for me. But it may work for you. This is one of the benefits of being able to download trial versions. The application hasn't been uploaded in over a year, though, so I wouldn't expect much support from the developer for it.
