Emailchemy can help you convert messages between formats. In this respect, it is specifically intended for converting obsolete and proprietary formats into open formats that are compatible with most clients.

The application is certainly very easy to use. Luckily, its developers designed it as a wizard. Thus, by following the suggested steps, there is no chance you can get lost. The first step consists of choosing the type of email you want to process. Good news is the tool supports practically any email format, even those which are no longer widely used. The list includes (but is not limited to) AOL, Apple Mail, Claris Email, Compuserve, Entourage, Eudora, Thunderbird and Outlook. Moreover, its built-in IMAP server allows it to import mail from any mailbox supporting this protocol.

Fortunately, you do not need to convert all the messages in a file or mailbox. For this purpose, you can use a set of rules, like restricting conversion to a given time period. Besides, you can specify whether you want the application to process messages that match all the conditions or just those that match some of them. Likewise, you can exclude duplicate messages and even save them to a separate marked folder. Similarly, you can decide to merge or split messages under certain conditions. Once you are ready, you can proceed to convert the messages. It is good to know that the application produces very accurate results.

All in all, Emailchemy is a Swiss Army knife in terms of supported formats, which makes it highly recommended for forensic purposes. The tool is Java-based, so it is cross-platform; still, this entails a disadvantage: regrettably, the app takes a lot of time to load.
