ed2k Helper is a software program that handles the ed2k:%2F%2F protocol in URLs from a web browser. Historically, Mac OS had no compatible eDonkey client, but with the introduction of Mac OS X, it is now possible to run programs from the Unix world, such as mldonkey, which provides a web interface for downloading, searching, and other tasks. ed2k Helper uses this web interface to add files to the download queue.
