EaseUS Mac Photo Recovery Free 5.5.1

EaseUS Mac Photo Recovery Free is a free data recovery solution. It is a basic application that allows you to recover photos that you may have accidentally deleted or, otherwise, lost in a system crash or partition error. It has some limitations in comparison with the paid versions. For example, it can only recover BMP, JPG, PNG, TIF and MP3 files. If you upgrade, you'll remove those restrictions. The free version is fully functional, though. And it should let you find any file that was accidentally deleted.

In my testing, I started a scan on my Mac's hard drive. The process took over 5 minutes, and according to the data on the screen, a total of 4.78GB in 2759 files could be recovered, but of all that, only 3.11 megabytes were photos. When the scan was complete, I was shown a list of folders on the left. And whenever I clicked on a folder (if it contained files), I was shown the list on a different pane. I could simply click on a file to preview it. I found it difficult to browse through found files using the folders on the left. It would be great if you could see all the found files in a list for easier browsing. I figured I could recover them all and then do a search for JPEG files in Finder, so I did that. When I went to the folder that I told the app to save the recovered files in, I found lots of different files, even .App and widgets, which really confused me. I also discovered the few JPEG files found. It should be noted that I chose the Quick Recovery mode. There is also a Deep Recovery Mode which lets you filter what types of files the application will scan for. This mode takes considerably longer, though. A scan for JPG files showed an estimated completion time of 2 hours 5 minutes on a 500GB drive.

In short, the application seems to be working fine. There are some things here and there that could be changed, but overall you can't complain when an application is free and it works relatively well.
